Here is a brief description about some of my golf background and reasons for my interest in golf and particularly golf’s pace of play problem.
I’ve been involved with golf for many decades as a player and as an employee at golf courses. I started playing golf at the age of twelve back in the 1950s on a course that had sand greens, in a small rural mid-west town. I played on golf teams in high school and college. Years later, after retiring from a career as a computer software engineer (computer programmer), I worked for 16 years as a golf course starter and ranger at a well-known golf resort that had five 18 hole courses, at the time. That’s where I really got involved daily with pace of play.
That’s where I dealt with almost every pace of play problem and also studied about many methods that have been recommended and tried for speeding up slow play. You can read about them here on the ‘improve your pace‘ menu item. Some of them you probably have never even seen before now. You’re also invited to check out the menu items that describe the SelectPace™ Golf Course and see how it solves golf’s pace of play problem.
After doing a complete analysis of it, I realized that the best solution, that would allow you and all players to play at their own pace, would be to invent a very unique and innovative type of golf course. Obviously, different types of golfers all play at a different pace.
