SelectPace Golf Course

What is a SelectPace™ Golf Course? (for course builders, and developers)

  • A SelectPace™ Golf Course is a full-sized golf course that allows each group on the course to play at its own pace. It is generally known that the main complaint of golfers is the pace of play. Unfortunately, on conventional golf courses the slowest group largely determines the pace of play, which is too often 5 hours or more. This slow pace upsets most players. Novice players often feel intimidated by impatient players behind them. Ideally, all groups should be able to play at whatever pace they prefer. The SelectPace™ Golf Course makes that possible.
  • Conventional golf courses are designed for the holes to be played in sequential order. The patented SelectPace™ Golf Course is uniquely designed for playing the holes in random order (if desired), instead of only sequential. Yes, to prevent chaos when all of the groups are playing the holes in random order, would require a way (electronic or otherwise) to make players immediately aware of all nearby available tees as they leave each green. They can then go directly to one of those empty tees. Available tees here means an empty tee and driving area so that you could immediately tee off.
  • This type of golf course is uniquely unconventional which led to the awarding of a patent. It requires a special structure in the way the course is designed and laid out. Those are the keys to this concept – non sequential order of play and a unique course structure. There are many different possible layouts for this type of course without departing from the scope of the patented course structure.

● Although unconventional, this type of course can be played exactly the same way as a conventional course, if desired. To do that, all players would be instructed to play it that way. Each hole on this type of course looks just like a similar hole on a conventional course.

● This design groups the greens and tees in such a way that players always have several tees nearby after finishing each and every green. For example, on a 36 hole course, after leaving each green there would always be 6 to 12 possible tees easily accessible. They are safely accessible without crossing any fairway and without driving the length of any fairway. Most often one or more of those tees would be open. (More about this, plus more details including examples of many possible course layouts, can be requested on the contact page of this site, for those interested.)
